Chong Hua Hospital Celebrates National Cancer Survivors’ Month Through Healing, Hope, and Creativity
Cebu City, Philippines | June 13, 2026 — Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue reaffirmed its commitment to holistic cancer care by celebrating National Cancer Survivors’ Month through a meaningful event entitled “Brushing Away Fear and Anxiety,” bringing together cancer survivors, healthcare professionals, and advocates in a morning dedicated to healing beyond medicine.
Held at the Grand Lobby of Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue, the event was organized by the Hematology-Oncology Unit and Cancer Center in partnership with Singapore Cancer Center Inc. (SCCI), led by Dr. Ellie May B. Villegas, and The Medical Oncology Group of Cebu (TMOG), headed by Dr. Stella Marie C. Yap. The gathering welcomed members of various cancer survivor communities across Cebu, creating a safe and uplifting space where stories of courage, resilience, and hope were shared.
The program opened with an inspiring Cancer Survivorship Lecture featuring Dr. Faith T. Yee and Dr. Jeremy S. Medroso, who discussed life after a cancer diagnosis, the importance of regular follow-up care, healthy survivorship practices, and strategies to cope with the emotional and psychological challenges that often accompany recovery.
Recognizing that healing encompasses both body and mind, participants also engaged in an interactive Art Therapy Workshop, where they expressed themselves through creative activities such as painting and craft-making. The therapeutic session encouraged mindfulness, reduced anxiety, fostered emotional healing, and strengthened connections among fellow survivors and their families.
The event reflects Chong Hua Hospital’s vision of delivering patient-centered care that extends beyond clinical treatment, embracing emotional wellness, psychosocial support, and meaningful community engagement as integral components of cancer survivorship.
As survivors transformed blank canvases into vibrant works of art, they also painted a powerful message—that while cancer may be part of their journey, hope, courage, and healing continue to define their future.
Through initiatives like “Brushing Away Fear and Anxiety,” Chong Hua Hospital continues to champion comprehensive cancer care, empowering survivors to move forward with renewed strength, confidence, and the reassurance that they are never alone in their journey.
Healing is more than overcoming disease—it is rediscovering joy, purpose, and hope, one brushstroke at a time.
