BDCFI Strengthens Healthcare Support for Mandaue City Jail Through Medical Equipment Donation
Mandaue City, Cebu – Benevola de Cebu Foundation Inc. (BDCFI), through its Resource Extension for Accessible Community Health (R.E.A.C.H.) Program, donated medical equipment and supplies to the Mandaue City Jail Male Dormitory in Basak, Mandaue City, reinforcing its commitment to improving healthcare access for underserved communities and institutions.
The turnover ceremony was led by BDCFI Independent Board Trustee Melanie C. Ng and Executive Director Wilhelm Wade A. Eusores. The donated items were formally received by Jail Superintendent Jessie James G. Gingoyon, Warden of Mandaue City Jail, in the presence of jail officers and persons deprived of liberty (PDLs).
The donated medical equipment and supplies are expected to support the healthcare needs of more than 1,600 male PDLs housed at the facility.
In her message, Ng emphasized that the donation represents more than a symbolic gesture.
“These supplies are more than just a first step and a ceremonial act. They reflect a deeper commitment to ensuring that access to healthcare is not a privilege reserved for a few, but a fundamental need that must be extended to everyone regardless of their circumstances,” she said.
Gingoyon expressed his gratitude to the Foundation for its support and underscored the importance of the assistance in promoting the welfare of the jail population.
He noted that the donation would help strengthen the facility’s healthcare services and boost the morale of the PDLs. He also assured the Foundation that the donated items would be properly managed and utilized, adding that the facility has 25 trained paramedics who provide healthcare support within the jail.
The initiative forms part of BDCFI’s R.E.A.C.H. Program, which aims to improve access to essential healthcare services and resources among vulnerable and underserved sectors.
By partnering with institutions that serve communities with unique healthcare needs, BDCFI continues to advance its mission of creating meaningful and lasting social impact through responsive and inclusive health interventions.
