Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue Successfully Performs Its First Heart Rhythm Correction Procedure

Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue has successfully performed its first cardiac catheter ablation procedures on June 26, 2026, a major step forward in providing advanced heart care in the Visayas.

Two patients with abnormal heart rhythms were successfully treated using this minimally invasive procedure. Catheter ablation works by using a thin tube inserted through a blood vessel to find and treat the small areas in the heart that cause abnormal heartbeats.

The procedures were led by Cebu-based heart rhythm specialist Dr. Mary Gertrude Cordovez, with assistance from Dr. Erdie Fadreguilan of the Philippine Heart Center.

With this service now available at Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue, patients from the Visayas and Mindanao who suffer from abnormal heart rhythms can receive specialized treatment closer to home, avoiding the need to travel to Manila.

The successful procedures were made possible through the teamwork of cardiac specialists, doctors-in-training, catheterization laboratory nurses and staff, and technical experts who operated the advanced equipment used during the treatments.
