BDCFI Supports Community Health Through Six Chong Hua Hospital Medical Missions Across Cebu
Benevola de Cebu Foundation Inc. (BDCFI), through its Resource Extension for Accessible Community Health (R.E.A.C.H.) Program, supported six medical missions conducted by Chong Hua Hospital (CHH) through the provision of over ₱800,000 worth of medicines and medical supplies.
Implemented in partnership with local government units, religious institutions, and correctional facilities, the medical missions served nearly 2,000 beneficiaries across Cebu City, Mandaue City, Talisay City, and Boljoon during the second quarter of 2026.
The missions provided free medical consultations, diagnostic services, health screenings, minor surgical procedures, and essential medicines to individuals and communities with limited access to healthcare services.
A key focus of several missions was women’s health, in support of Cervical Cancer Awareness Month observed in May. During the Mandaue City Health Mission, Mother’s Day Medical Mission in Talisay City, and the Cebu City Jail Female Dormitory medical mission for Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), women were provided access to Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA), clinical breast examinations, cervical cancer screenings, wellness packs, health information materials, and educational sessions on menopause and cardiometabolic health.
In Boljoon, the medical mission served more than 300 patients, including 278 diagnostic and medication cases and 25 minor surgical procedures. Meanwhile, 250 residents of Punta Princesa benefited from consultations, screenings, and medicines provided during a medical mission.
Another outreach activity was conducted at the Archdiocesan Shrine of Our Lady of Fatima in Barangay Basak, Mandaue City, where parishioners received healthcare services in Internal Medicine, Obstetrics and Gynecology, Pediatrics, and Surgery. Beneficiaries also received medical vouchers and primary care packs to support their continued health and wellness.
“Access to healthcare should not be limited by geography or circumstance. Through these medical missions, we were able to bring essential health services closer to communities that may face challenges in accessing care. We are grateful for the support of BDCFI and our local partners, whose collaboration made these outreach initiatives possible,” said Dr. Virginia S. Abalos, Medical Director of Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue.
“At BDCFI, we believe that healthcare becomes more impactful when organizations work together to reach communities that need support the most. Through our R.E.A.C.H. Program, we are proud to support Chong Hua Hospital’s medical missions and help bring essential medicines and healthcare services closer to underserved communities across Cebu,” said Wilhelm Wade A. Eusores, Executive Director of BDCFI.
The medical missions reflect the continuing partnership between BDCFI and Chong Hua Hospital in expanding access to quality healthcare services, particularly for underserved sectors. Through the R.E.A.C.H. Program, BDCFI supports initiatives that help bridge healthcare gaps and strengthen community well-being through collaborative approaches.
