Chong Hua Hospital is looking to hire a highly motivated Sterilization Technician who is responsible for performing sterile processing services in the designated area of assignment; s/he ensures the proper implementation of all sterilization processes in the unit in compliance with hospital, current and updated local regulatory and international practice guidelines / standards.
S/He ensures the proper handling and operation of sterilization equipment and the proper packing, production and dispensing of sterile medical supplies in accordance to the established work standards and competency matrix. S/He orients and guides new members of the team in the delivery of sterilization services. S/He may be required to mentor and evaluate their level of competency in the performance of sterilization work.
In addition, s/he is responsible for assuring the availability of all consumables, and ensures their proper handling and care. S/he is also responsible for coordinating with the applicable concerned persons in the section in the conduct of his / her duty.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Observes the standard procedures in the entire sterilization process as aligned with unit according to current and updated, hospital, local regulatory and international practice guidelines and standards.
- Performs the proper sterilization and decontamination processes in the work area in accordance to the established guidelines, hospital protocols and competency matrix; follows the established sterilization process from the receipt of soiled items up to the release of the sterilized items; ensures compliance with infection control and sterilization standards at all times.
- Ensures that all areas of assignment, machines, materials and equipment are kept in order and according to standards of sterilization and infection control.
- Ensures the proper production, packing and dispensing of sterile medical supplies required in the hospital operations, such as, but not limited to: wadding sheets, sponges, rubber tubing, etc.
- Ensures the consistent practice and observance of proper infection control practices such as wearing of proper personal equipment, hand hygiene, etc.
- Ensures safety in the conduct of functions at all times by complying with safety protocols and practices according to current and updated hospital protocols and standards, local regulatory, international practice guidelines such as, but not limited to: good warehousing practices and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Qualifications
Must have at least two (2) years of college education; healthcare related course such as Nursing is an advantage OR
Must be certified in CSSD or an equivalent certification from any national or international certification body; has received practical training for sterilization process and techniques, such as the following:
Actual and proper use of sterilization equipment.
Proper use of Indicators and Monitoring Devices related to sterilization.
Proper Cleaning and Sterilizing of Medical Devices.
Must have at least two (2) years of related work experience in sterilization process in the organization with mentoring capacity.
Possesses knowledge of infection control standards; Keen on maintaining cleanliness and sanitation.
Knowledgeable in basic Microsoft Office application.
Good communication skills, both oral and written. Proficiency in the Visayan dialect and/or Tagalog is required; ability to communicate in English is an advantage.
