Chong Hua Hospital is looking to hire a Speech Therapist who is responsible for the evaluation and management of patients with speech, language, voice, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders. S/he is involved in providing specialized therapy to patients from pediatric to geriatric. S/he also participates in a comprehensive, multidisciplinary care plan and interventions which focuses on the total care of the individual along with medical staff and department leaders in rehab facility. Also, he/she participates in CQI activities to continuously develop the quality of service in the rehabilitation facility department.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
These tasks are subject to change depending on the nature of service of the division/department or business direction.
Assesses and manages speech, language, voice, cognitive-communication, and swallowing disorders of patients in inpatient and outpatient settings.
Conducts bedside swallowing evaluations and provides safe feeding and nutrition management plans, particularly for post-stroke, post-surgical, and critically ill patients.
Designs, implements, and monitors individualized therapy programs, documenting progress, and outcomes in line with hospital and regulatory standards.
Educates and trains patients, families, and caregivers on communication and swallowing strategies to support recovery and daily function.
Collaborates with physicians, nurses, dietitians, and the rehabilitation team in case discussions, ward rounds, and discharge planning to ensure coordinated, patient-centered care.
Participates in the continuous quality improvement of service, safety procedures and activities.
Provides analyses on processes, policies and procedures based on research or gathered data.
Seeks guidance from the Chief Therapist in the patient’s assessments of physical function to identify plan of care, approach or technique appropriate for the patient.
Contributes in the design of appropriate treatment program that can help other therapists achieve the desired treatment objectives.
Responsible for the review and streamlining of processes and policies to continuously improve the quality of service in the department.
Oversees the development and placement of safety strategies and continuous quality improvement of service initiatives in the department.
Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS
1. A graduate of bachelor’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
2. Registered Speech and Language Pathologist.
3. With 0 – 3 years of working experience in Speech Therapy.
4. Experience in hospital setting is preferred (either inpatient or outpatient sections).
5. Demonstrated ability to initiate and maintain effective professional relationships and/or partnerships.
6. Possess a current certificate in Basic Life Support (BLS) training.
7. Demonstrated understanding of basic corporate office software, including Microsoft Office 365 applications.
8. Effective communication skills. Proficiency in the Visayan dialect and/or Tagalog is required; ability to communicate well in English is an advantage.
