Chong Hua Hospital is looking to hire an Orderly to provide assistance to the healthcare team by ensuring the safety, security, and comfort of patients as they are transferred from the patient care and ancillary units.

S/He prepares, cleans, and maintains apparatus / equipment used for the facilitation of patient care and transport for the unit. S/He communicates and collaborates with the healthcare team by endorsing patients for admission and transfer, and relays important updates to his/her immediate superior.

Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Responds promptly to transport calls; transports patients to patient care, ancillary/ diagnostic unit/s as necessary.

  • Consistently utilizes the appropriate equipment, paraphernalia, and proper transporting technique to ensure the safety of patients during transport.

  • Upholds the patients’ and his/her significant others’ right to privacy; conducts him/herself in a respectful and friendly manner at all times.

  • Monitors the working condition of all transport equipment such as, but not limited to: wheelchairs, hospital beds, or portable medical equipment in the unit; documents repairs / maintenance work needed and alerts the section manager.

  • Ensures that all transport equipment and paraphernalia are returned to their proper places after use.

  • Ensures that all portable medical equipment/s are safely and properly secured during transport.

  • Ensures care and proper endorsement of the linens found on the stretcher.

  • Transports packed instruments, supplies, and linens for autoclaving and gas-up, returns them to their designated places after use.

  • Performs routine maintenance and sanitation of stretchers, foot stools, hampers, and kick-buckets.

  • Ensures that the cleanliness of the unit is maintained by performing routine sanitation / cleaning

  • Ensures consistent compliance with the proper disinfection standards when cleaning equipment, such as, but not limited to: wheelchairs, hospital beds, or portable medical equipment

  • Performs accurate and timely documentation as required.

  • Responsible for assuring the availability of all tools and materials needed for his/her function.

  • Relays any information or provides suggestions to his/her immediate superior regarding any issues / concerns in the practice of his/her function in order to continuously improve the quality of service in the unit.

  • Provides support to the unit within his/her level in addressing the needs or queries of internal/external customers.

  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned or requested by immediate superior or management from time to time.

  • Has completed at least two (2) years of College education OR a Senior High School graduate with National Certificate (NCII).

  • At least one to two (1-2) years of relevant work experience is preferred.

  • Possesses current Heart Savers Certificate is an advantage but not required.

  • Must have completed a course / training on the proper lifting of patients.

  • Has a very good sense of customer service.

  • Must be knowledgeable on the basic Microsoft Office applications.

  • Good communication skills. Proficiency in the Visayan dialect and/or Tagalog is required; ability to communicate in English is an advantage.
