BDCFI 将 Lakbay Alalay 计划引入宿务市，为 20 名残疾人受益人提供支持

Benevola de Cebu Foundation Inc. (BDCFI), through its Lakbay Alalay Program, provided wheelchairs, quad canes, and grocery packages to 20 Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) from different barangays in Cebu City during a turnover ceremony at the Cebu City Health Department.

Following an earlier mobility support turnover in Mandaue City, BDCFI brought the program to Cebu City in partnership with the Cebu City Government through the Cebu City Health Department.

The turnover was led by BDCFI Trustee Ms. Vivien Gail Go-Luzuriaga and Executive Director Wilhelm Wade A. Eusores, together with Cebu City Health Officer Dr. Daisy S. Villa and Acting Assistant Department Head Dr. Alice Marie Aycardo.

Each beneficiary received a mobility aid based on needs identified and endorsed by the Cebu City Health Department. Ten beneficiaries received wheelchairs, while another ten received quad canes. Each beneficiary also received a grocery package from BDCFI.

“On behalf of Benevola de Cebu Foundation Inc., I am here to represent the Board of Trustees in this turnover of wheelchairs and canes under our Lakbay Alalay Program. To our beneficiaries, we hope these wheelchairs and canes will help you manage your daily needs with greater independence, spend more time with your families, participate in community activities, and do the things that truly matter to you. These mobility aids will help make your daily movement safer, easier, and more manageable,” said Go-Luzuriaga.

Some beneficiaries were represented during the activity by family members and Barangay Health Workers, particularly those who were bedridden, senior citizens, or otherwise unable to attend the ceremony.

Eusores emphasized that Lakbay Alalay is intended to respond to practical mobility barriers that can affect the daily lives and participation of Persons with Disabilities.

“Through Lakbay Alalay, we want to help address some of the everyday barriers faced by Persons with Disabilities, particularly those whose mobility limits their independence and participation in daily life. By working with the Cebu City Health Department to identify beneficiaries and their specific needs, we are able to extend support in a more responsive and meaningful way,” Eusores said.

Dr. Villa expressed appreciation for the partnership and shared her hope that the collaboration would continue to benefit more PWDs in Cebu City.

“Pinagtagpo, tinadhana para sa kawang gawa. This is very memorable for us because the Foundation came in with a genuine desire to help. Without this partnership, our PWD beneficiaries would not have received these mobility aids. Hopefully, this is not the beginning and the end, but the start of a strong relationship between Benevola Foundation and Cebu City for greater service to the people,” Villa said.

Among the beneficiaries was Angel Pancho of Barangay Guba, whose mother, Hazel Pancho, shared how the wheelchair would help support her daughter’s mobility and daily needs.

“My heartfelt gratitude to Benevola de Cebu Foundation Inc. This will be a huge help for my child, as she really cannot walk,” Pancho said.

The activity brought together city health officers, Barangay Health Workers, beneficiaries, families, and BDCFI representatives in support of greater mobility and independence for Persons with Disabilities.

Through Lakbay Alalay, BDCFI continues to work with local government and community partners to help improve access to mobility support and promote greater dignity, participation, and inclusion for PWDs.
