Coronary Care Unit

Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue’s Coronary Care Unit (CCU) is a dedicated facility for patients with urgent heart problems, including heart attacks, unstable angina, serious rhythm disturbances, heart failure, vascular emergencies like aortic dissection, complicated aortic aneurysms, acute limb ischemia, pulmonary embolism, and other related conditions.

Located within the Heart and Vascular Institute Mandaue, the largest, most advanced, and most comprehensive heart and vascular care center in the Visayas and Mindanao, the CCU provides round-the-clock monitoring and timely, coordinated care.

The unit is designed so that the right specialists, medicines, and equipment are immediately available at the bedside. It is closely connected to other units and facilities within the institute, ensuring swift access to any tests, procedures, or therapies a patient may need.

The approach is caring and clear: keep patients safe, respond promptly, and support recovery with open communication for patients and families.

How the unit cares for patients:

• Continuous bedside and central monitoring of heart rhythm, blood pressure, oxygen levels, and other vital signs.
• Immediate access to needed tests, medicines, and equipment through close coordination with nearby services.
• A multidisciplinary cardiac team is on site 24/7, including cardiologists, specialty nurses, and other healthcare professionals, delivering attentive, coordinated care.
• Patients and families receive clear updates through scheduled bedside rounds each day, with additional check-ins and family conferences as needed.

The unit features the following:

• 10 dedicated CCU rooms, including an isolation room, for quiet, specialized care
• 2 recovery rooms for post-procedure stabilization
• Doctors’ dressing rooms within the unit
• Dedicated staff area to keep the healthcare team close to patients
• Family waiting room right by the CCU
• In-unit equipment room for instant access to life-saving machines.
• Doctors’ lounge and call room for immediate case discussions and 24/7 coverage
