Chong Hua Hospital and Benevola de Cebu Foundation Donate Hospital Beds and Medicines to Cebu City Jail

Chong Hua Hospital and Benevola de Cebu Foundation, Inc. (BDCFI) successfully turned over six (6) hospital beds and ₱30,000 worth of essential medicines to the Cebu City Jail facilities during a ceremony held on November 12, 2025, at the Cebu City Jail – Male Dormitory.

In his opening remarks, JSSUPT Nanding Bayle, Assistant Regional Director for Administration of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP), expressed his gratitude for the initiative. He emphasized that the donations will greatly benefit Persons Deprived of Liberty (PDLs), particularly in strengthening the medical services and welfare programs provided to them.

Mr. Wilhelm Wade Eusores, Executive Director of BDCFI, highlighted the importance of shared responsibility in community development. He stressed that compassion should never be conditional and that meaningful support for vulnerable communities is best achieved through collective effort between government institutions and the private sector.

Echoing this message, BJMP Regional Director JCSUPT Luisito Muñoz extended his appreciation to BDCFI, Chong Hua Hospital, and the Cebu Lawyers Association (CELLA). He affirmed that the donation will significantly improve the health and welfare of the PDLs, adding that the Bureau remains committed to its duty of care, rehabilitation, and humane custodial services.

The initiative was organized in coordination with CELLA, led by its President Atty. Mary Grace Hermosa Casano, and the BJMP Regional Office VII. The activity aims to assist PDLs across the Cebu City Jail’s male dormitory, female dormitory, and annex by enhancing their access to essential healthcare resources.
