Chong Hua Hospital Partners with AmCham to Promote Healthier Workplaces

Chong Hua Hospital partnered with the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham) Visayas Chapter to host “Keep the Beat: Wellness for Work and Life,” a special Heart Month wellness session dedicated to promoting cardiovascular health and overall well-being among professionals.

Held on February 25, 2026, the 90-minute learning session gathered AmCham members and business leaders for an engaging discussion on practical, sustainable ways to care for the heart—both in the workplace and in everyday life.

Chong Hua Hospital and the American Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (AmCham) Visayas Chapter underscore the importance of a healthy population in building a strong, productive economy. As more Filipinos become proactive about their well-being, initiatives like this encourage preventive care and healthier lifestyle choices that contribute to a more resilient and thriving community.

The event also highlighted the expertise of Chong Hua Hospital’s Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI), the largest and most advanced heart and vascular care center in the Visayas and Mindanao. The HVI provides comprehensive cardiovascular services supported by state-of-the-art technology and a team of highly trained specialists dedicated to delivering quality heart care.

Practical Steps Toward a Healthier Heart

The session opened with welcome remarks from Dr. Francisco Chio, Jr., Director of the Heart and Vascular Institute of Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue, setting the tone for a meaningful and informative discussion.

Medical experts from Chong Hua Hospital led the main session:

Dr. Mahroune Tuñacao discussed understanding the heart and identifying major risk factors for heart disease.

Dr. Janine Carido shared insights on heart-healthy lifestyle habits, including nutrition, physical activity, sleep, and stress management.

She also emphasized the importance of knowing key health indicators such as blood pressure, cholesterol, blood sugar, and body measurements—and what these numbers generally mean in simple, practical terms.

Dr. Carido further highlighted the warning signs of heart attack and stroke, including the FAST method, reinforcing the importance of early recognition and immediate action.

An engaging open forum followed, where Dr. Francisco Chio, Jr., Director of the Heart and Vascular Institute of Chong Hua Hospital Mandaue, together with Dr. Maria Rosan Trani, Assistant Director, addressed participants’ questions and shared expert insights on heart health and preventive care.

The program concluded with closing remarks from Ms. Brenda D. Lisen, Visayas Chapter Manager of AmCham Philippines. Participants were then given a guided tour of the hospital’s Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI), facilitated by Dr. Francisco Chio, Jr.
